New Formula Helmet from FLY Racing

New Formula Helmet from FLY Racing

FLY Racing is proud to present the all-new Formula helmet, one of the most advanced motocross helmets ever created. Tested with the world's most advanced equipment, the Formula helmet offers performance that is best in class for both high-speed impacts as well as rotational and low-speed impacts. This technologically advanced helmet redefines expectations for helmet performance and safety.

CONSTRUCTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT

The Formula's Adaptive Impact System (AIS) is the result of years of coordinated research and design with leading doctors, researchers, and physicists from around the world. AIS is a high-performance ecosystem of structural design and energy-absorbing materials. Each layer, from energy cells to the dual-density EPS liner and 12k carbon fiber shell, is meticulously fine-tuned to achieve superior head protection across as wide a range of real-world impacts as possible.

The Formula's first line of defense is an extremely strong and lightweight 12K carbon fiber shell. 12K carbon fiber refers to 12,000 carbon fiber strands per weave. Carbon fiber is strongest when it is flat. Wider carbon fiber weaves together create a flatter result with fewer dips and rises that are inherent in a woven material. The reduction of these dips and rises creates fewer areas for resin to accumulate. Less resin means less weight. The result is an extremely lightweight shell with superior penetration resistance compared to standard 3K carbon fiber.

IMPROVED ENERGY ABSORPTION

Just like a deformation zone absorbs and disperses impact forces more effectively than traditional EPS helmet liners, Conehead technology produces a more progressive energy absorption through a wider variety of impact scenarios.

The Formula has six critical zones of Conehead EPS. Each zone has a uniquely fine-tuned combination of EPS densities for a more progressive response to impacts specific to that area of the helmet. Studies have shown that the majority of impacts occur at the forehead or side of the head. To combat these impacts, the Formula development team has included lower density expanded volume EPS (thicker EPS) in these critical zones. This expanded volume EPS provides improved cushioning for impacts.

INNOVATIVE ENERGY CELLS

Impact Energy Cells maximize the absorption of low-speed linear and rotational impacts. Their unique shape and labyrinth structure allow them to be compressed and sheared. This movement maximizes the absorption of low-speed linear and rotational impacts, reducing the overall load on the brain.

These energy cells are made from RHEON, an "active" material sensitive to load rate that effectively absorbs and dissipates energy when deformed. RHEON's adaptive chemistry instinctively reacts to control energy and change its behavior depending on the severity or direction of an impact.

With the Formula helmet, FLY Racing takes a significant step forward in helmet safety and performance, providing riders with the best protection available on the market.
